IT IS WHAT IT IS. VISUAL DIARY OF A RESIDENCE IN CHILE 2005-2022 is a photographic collection by French-American artist Justine Graham. This book exposes the realities, milestones, idiosyncrasies and diversities of Chile at the beginning of the 21st century, through the photographer perspective who lives in Chile from 2005. Through 17 photographic series, behaviors and habits arising from the current consumption model are exposed, where the photographer wonders how much of the colonial economic system will have mutated over the course of two centuries. In each of these series, Graham experiments with the type of photographic image to allude to the complex realities of Chile, while indirectly questioning the economic system in which Chilean society operates. Graham's view provides an analysis and reflection of his stay in Chile through this image archive.
